We would like to start of this month’s newsletter with our dearest sympathy to the Persano family. Laury Persano passed away last month. She was a dear friend and she will be greatly missed.

WHAT’S NEW

Welcome Meghan

We would like to welcome Meghan Banach to SEC’s team of instructors. Meghan’s love of horses and riding began at Shallowbrook when she started taking riding lessons at the age of ten. Today, Meghan’s years of knowledge and her patient and encouraging teaching style bring out the best in all of her students. We are thrilled to have you as part of the team!

CHSA Finals

Congratulations to Julie Costello, Allison Quirk, and Hannah Kenny on qualifying for the Connecticut Horse Show Association Finals to be held at the end of the month. Also, congratulations to all on winning impressive ribbons at the recent away horse shows!

SEC Events Calendar

SEC Rated Show: September 25th

Dog Agility Competition: October 2nd and 3rd (if you missed it last year, you won’t want to miss this year)

***STUDENT HORSE SHOW***: October 17th

SEC Rated Show: October 30th

SEC Rated Show: November 14th

SEC Receives Rave Reviews

In a recent survey developed by Shallowbrook in efforts to build upon successes and make improvements for future Shallowbrook horse shows, Shallowbrook received rave reviews of the improved quality of their horse shows.

One survey respondent commented, “A great amount of effort is being made to by improving this facility, the weather was the only down fall, but that too was accommodated for by the ability to move two rings to the indoor and sand. Great Job!!!” 33 out of 39 respondents rated the grass and sand rings excellent or good with one respondent adding, “beautiful indoor, excellent footing and great jumps.” The satisfaction of the entry gifts and awards received high ratings as well with one respondent adding, “this is our favorite part of Shallowbrook…and what keeps my customers going back every year!” See the full article in this month’s Horsemen’s Yankee Pedlar.

Summer Horsemanship Program – LAST CHANCE

Activities include daily riding lessons, horse and stable care, arts and crafts, introduction to polo, games on horseback and an end of the week riding demonstration for family and friends to enjoy! Only two spots remain for the last session of the summer.

Fall Horse Leases

Experience a week lease this Fall (also makes for a great birthday present). A week lease entitles you or your child to be able to ride 4 times a week. They would also be allowed to groom the horse everyday as well as feed the horse two times during that week (Shallowbrook provides the feed). Horses are leased on a first come first serve basis. Please contact your instructor for more information.

Get Well Soon

We wish Margaret Shea a speedy recovery from knee surgery.

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Christine Howard (and Glen) and Meghan Banach (and Scott) who both got engaged last month.

Back to School

We wish all of our students a great year at school. Especially those that are heading to college, see you on school break!

WHAT’S HAPPENED

Red, White, and Blue Week

Congratulations and thank you to all of those that participated. The patriotism was so amazing that all entries were awarded. Check outshallowbrook.com for photos soon.

Ladies Night 7/14

Even though it was not officially trivia night the Tavern created trivia just for us. Christine Howard was the trivia winner and Stephanie Vita won best team name! Stay tuned for the next night out, date TBD. All students, boarders, and mother’s and grandmother’s of students come join us. Must be 21 years old to attend.

Messier Family Ride

The Messier family enjoyed their first ride on horseback together. The hour session including horse care and riding skills. GREAT riding!

Renovations

Thank you for your patience during our renovations. The new and improved grounds and stalls are amazing. We look forward to many more improvements throughout the year!

Best wishes,
