Laura Peteros- IEA Coach / Trainer

Laura has been a  lifelong equestrian  with interests and skills across disciplines; from western riding, barrel racing, cross-country jumping, dressage and hunter/jumpers. Through high school and college, she worked as a riding instructor and horse camp leader.  With an education from The Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Equine Science, which included instructors’ training, Massachusetts Instructors Certification and Certification in Secondary Educati0n from Southern Connecticut State University, she is an asset to our team.

Laura began competing in the local circuit at a young age and continued competing  through college where she competed on the University of Massachusetts Equestrian Team. As the mother of four wonderful children,  she was very instrumental in the training of her daughter Julia who was IEA Zone 1 Champion and Fourth at IEA Nationals in 2017. Today,Laura successfully competes in the jumper arena on her horse Endeavor.

Most recently, Laura has had the opportunity to work with children and sports which is where she found her passion. She coached Softball (6 years), Field Hockey (3 years) and is currently a coach of the Shallowbrook IEA Team. These experiences have taught her how to utilize sports as a platform to teach children the important life skills of confidence, bravery, compassion for others, setting and achieving goals.

Laura continues her education in riding through attending clinics on her horse, auditing top trainers and takes weekly lessons to keep her skills sharp. Laura is often heard saying “I  can't put into words how much I  love working with kids and horses.” She looks forward to her continued success with the riders of the SEC IEA team and the progress of her weekly students at Shallowbrook Equestrian Center.
